Boho-Vintage Nursery with Blush Accents
I have been DYING to share this blog post with you…and just in time, I hit 39 weeks yesterday. Better late than never, I suppose :)
Technically this room doubles as our nursery AND guest bedroom. Its one of the first design opportunities I’ve ever had to start a room from scratch, and I am so happy with the way it turned out! I knew I had to find a way to make the guest bedroom bed fit into the room (the only piece from the original way the room was set up) and I knew I wanted to give it my take on a nursery…always featuring vintage pieces mixed into a bohemian theme. What I did differently in this room though, in comparison to other rooms like the office, is stick to neutrals, pastels and blush as my primary accent color. I felt blush, with mint as the secondary color, was the perfect way to say “baby girl room” without it being in your face. I have to say I really enjoyed going less intense with the colors in this room, and it has me curious to see how I would approach colors schemes with decorating in the future.
I spent months putting together this room, as I wanted to slowly find the perfect pieces. But first, let’s share the before pictures:
In all honesty, I forgot to take these pictures before we started moving things out…so the room looks even more drab and dark than it was originally. But you can tell how much work it needed! The color of the walls, the carpet, everything needed to be updated.
We do not plan on being in this home for long, so we were not trying to invest a ton of money into the space. We decided to replace the carpet knowing that our realtor would probably ask us to do so to sell the house when the time comes, so we went ahead and did that going for a much, much lighter color. And luckily painting, especially when you do it yourself, is not a huge money investment so we went ahead and did that as well. Thanks to your recommendations over on Instagram, I chose Alabaster white from Sherwin Williams.

Other than painting the room white and replacing the carpet, the rug was one of the first purchases we made months and months ago. I was shopping at Brocante Market, a local vintage market that’s only open once a month here in St Pete. The price was just at $100 which is a steal for vintage rugs, and while it looked really dirty when I purchased it I trusted that cleaning it would bring it back to life. And it did! There’s a spot on it that’s discolored, but you really cannot tell since I hid it under the bed.
The curtains are actually the same ones from the last room, and the curtain rods we actually spray painted gold to make them match the room instead of buying new ones to save money. Love the way they turned out! Curtain rods are originally from Target and I think I purchased the curtains years ago from Home Goods? Or Marshalls? One of those stores.
The crib is an eco-friendly and non-toxic crib one we found on Amazon (ours is the washed natural color), which I was excited to find one that met my desires from a health perspective but still had a mid-mod vibe. Crib mattress is also from Amazon and the crib sheets are Burt Bee’s organic bedding (also from Amazon).
The bookshelves are from Ikea, and all the amazing books are from our dear friends and family. I am SO excited to read such empowering messages to our little girl!
The lighting to go with the rocking chair is from Target. The basket beside the crib is World Market stuffed with blankets and stuffed animals are friends and family gave us. On top is the most beautiful blush colored weaved blanket made by a co-worker of Nick’s, I love it so much!
The chair is from Wayfair (another registry gift!), and I purchased the bedding and pouf from Etsy.
The light fixture is also Ikea (only $70 too!), pillows from Amazon, Target and World Market.
The bedside table, hanging garland and frame above the rocking chair are all DIY projects that we (as in Nick) made. I came up with the concept and purchased the supplies, Nick created each piece :)
This dream catcher from Etsy is one of my favorite gifts we received it is SO pretty and the frame of moons and blooms above the bed is a gift from my sister, not sure where she purchased it!
The vintage drawers are another find from Brocante Market and since we live in a small home with officially no more space available, we purchased the closet rack from Amazon to go with the drawers as her closet. I love the macrame from my favorite local macrame artist (all the macrames in our home are made from Sadie!) to go with the rack. The basket and pots are from World Market, the adorable little Feminist books are a gift from a client and the candle sticks are another vintage find.
The changing table is from Wayfair, baskets from Amazon and World Market, and filled with our cloth diapers and Honest diapers (we plan on doing primarily cloth diapers with biodegradable Honest diapers for when we are out and about). Shelf above changing table is World Market, which holds most of the crystals (selenite and rose quartz) my sister gave us at the baby shower, our Primally Pure supplies and other keepsakes. Another favorite of mine is this clay moon hanging from Meg, it matches the theme and color of the space perfectly!
My favorite thing about this room is the love you can feel when you step inside of it. We got SO much help purchasing everything from friends and family, and what Nick and I purchased we put so much intention and thought into everything. Its the first time I haven’t rushed putting together a room, and was a really good lesson in patience. It was worth the wait and I hope Madelyn loves the room as much as we do!
Sharing the room on IGTV today too if you want a full tour!
