My Skincare Routine
A few months ago, I realized I wasn't doing the best job of taking care of myself.
Of moving my body, of getting out in nature, of even taking care of my skin. If you've been following along on Instagram, you know I went into "summer mode" with work over the past few months, to slow things done and reconnect again with myself.
What it taught me: I come first and foremost. I MUST create boundaries with my work life, and take better care of myself.
I also realized a lot of the things I had fallen out of doing, were because they had become more things to check off on my to do list. So instead, I found ways to make them feel more luxurious, more fun and more like I actually wanted to do them :)
With my skincare routine, I really had fallen into a bad habit of half-fasting how I cleansed my face. In my new-I'm-going-to-take-better-care-of-myself mentality, I researched and found new ways to take better care of my skin. Luckily, my amazing job includes often talking to these people, which included having Courtney with Primally Pure on our podcast. Ever since we recorded that episode, I've been SO inspired to take better care of my skin. Here's what I've been doing:
In the evening:
I use this cleansing oil for normal skin to oil cleanse my face. To do this, I apply 1-2 tsp of oil on dry skin and massage for 1-2 minutes. Then I place a natural face cloth that’s been soaked in warm water on my skin and in a circular motion, take off my makeup and cleanse my face. You could also use sweet almond oil or jojoba oil too.
Then I do a second cleansing with a glycerin based soap and wipe clean with another (dry) natural cloth.
Next, I apply this toner, then use apply this eye cream under and above my eyes.
And for my favorite part! My favorite part of my nighttime skin routine are the products from Primally Pure. Y'all. I'm not kidding, my face has NEVER felt so moisturized and glowing. I use the Primally Pure face serum, just a few drops is plenty, and then apply the beauty cream next. I make sure to apply both to my face, neck and decolletage.
And in the morning its much quicker:
Just a quick rub of the cleansing oil, rubbed off with natural cloth and a quick application of oil or beauty cream before I apply BB cream, concealer and makeup if I am wearing some that day.
After speaking with Courtney on the show, I've been doing less exfoliation and more proper cleansing and moisturizing. I occasionally use cinnamon and coconut oil combined to exfoliate, and if I have a pimple I use a quick spot treatment of local, raw honey combined with turmeric and cinnamon to treat it.
Lastly, I've been doing a weekly face mask utilizing a combination of different products I have at the home. I always use local, raw honey and coconut oil (probably a teaspoon of each) and then the third ingredient varies between activated charcoal, spirulina or raw cacao.
And that’s it! It may seem simple but with quality, simple and whole ingredients, it has truly made the world of difference when it comes to my skin health.
