NWP Episode 158: The Power of Healing Trauma Through Breathwork and Meditation with Victoria Albina NP, MPH
Sending so much love to all of you affected by the Coronavirus Crisis. To help with keeping things normal in your daily routines, to give you things to do during this extra time we have and most importantly- tools to help with the anxiety of these uncertain times, I wanted to share today’s episode with you. One of probably the most important conversations we have had on the show, in today’s episode we explore how trauma shows up in our lives and in our bodies, and how to use healing modalities such as breathwork and meditation to help heal. Today’s guest on the show, Victoria Albina, will blow you away with her likeability yet nerdy, research driven vibes.
Victoria Albina, NP, MPH is a Certified Life Coach, Certified Breathwork Journey Meditation Facilitator and Holistic Nurse Practitioner who is on a mission to help women raised by alcoholics and codependents to heal their relationship with themselves: mind, body and spirit so they can live confident, healthy lives free from anxiety, stress and overwhelm.
As a Feminist Confidence Coach and host of the Feminist Wellness Podcast, Victoria teaches women how to live with confidence and radical, unapologetic self-love. With 20 years in health & wellness, Victoria brings cognitive psychology, somatic healing, neuroscience and feminist theory to her work, providing both a unique framework for understanding the effects of the patriarchy and capitalism on women’s mental and physical health, and an effective yet simple protocol for rewriting harmful old thought patterns to release anxiety and insecurity and to feel confident instead.
A former primary care provider and Functional Medicine expert, Victoria came to understand that the deepest root-cause healing work her patients were seeking was not found in lab work, supplements, prescriptions and restrictive nutrition plans. While all of that is an important part of the healing process, sustainable, long-lasting healing comes when we attend to mind, body and spirit, by healing our nervous systems and learning to manage the thought-patterns that keep us stuck and sick. By learning to look at our childhood wounds, our adult thought patterns, our somatic experience of challenging emotions and our energetics, Victoria guides women to a deeper place of health and healing – healing that lasts a lifetime.

Thank you to one of our podcast sponsors, Simple Mills. Simple Mills is on a mission to enrich the lives of their customers by providing simple, delicious food.
Their products are just that. Simple, yet delicious and as a foodie- I love including these delicious goodies in our groceries each week. While I personally eat gluten, these are a great option for those in my community who do need to be gluten free.
I have a love affair with many of their products- don’t even get me started on the crunchy chocolate chip cookies, but today we are going to share one of their newest products you can find at the grocery store, their soft baked almond flour bars. With four flavors available, you must get your hands on these delicious bars, too! Purchase at Simple Mills website, on Amazon and you can find Simple Mills at most health food stores and grocery stores too. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
This episode is also brought to you by New Chapter. As a women’s health dietitian and educator, I have been on the search for my official recommendation for a prenatal vitamin for quite some time, and I am thrilled to say I finally found the one, and actually a prenatal AND postnatal vitamin- that checks all my boxes.
What’s so cool about New Chapter’s perfect prenatal vitamin is that it is fermented for better absorption with beneficial probiotics and whole foods, which also makes it easy to digest and gentle on the stomach- which if you’ve ever taken a prenatal vitamin you know that’s not always the case. Plus their new improved formula contains ginger to help combat morning sickness. It contains all the key nutrients your body needs for a growing baby, including methylfolate- which is the active form of folate I personally always recommend to my clients when they are looking for a prenatal.
And they also have a Perfect postnatal vitamin, which is what I am personally taking now. Its formulated specifically for new moms and our needs, to help us replenish nutrient stores from having a baby meaning its going to contain key nutrients like iodine, vitamin D, fermented iron as well as fermented B vitamins to support energy needs. What I think is so helpful is that it also contains herbs and plants that have been used traditionally for lactation like oats, kelp, chamomile and turmeric.
As with all New Chapter supplements and products, these prenatal and postnatal vitamins are nonGMO certified, made with organic whole foods and herbs and responsibly sourced. I mean I could it get any better, I don’t think so!
You can purchase New Chapter prenatal and postnatal vitamins on New Chapter’s website, Whole Foods, CVS, Amazon and local health food stores. Thank you so much for sponsoring today’s episode NC!
